ELIMINATE

It was right where Mr. Dennis said it would be. Not that Jimbo had any reason to doubt Mr. Dennis, but he had heard stories about other hired guns not finding any suitcase in their motel room.

Jimbo sat on the bed and took a deep breath before unzipping the case. More money than Jimbo had ever seen. Must have been at least a million. The instructions were in an envelope on top of the buddled bills.

Eliminate Karen Rucker. My unfaithful wife.

Jimbo dropped the note. He couldn’t decide if he was pissed at her for not saying she was married or that he had to kill his girlfriend. Jimbo didn’t want to think about the fact that he was screwing the boss’s wife.

A couple thoughts went through Jimbo’s head. He would be dead already if Mr. Dennis knew it was Jimbo. Or maybe he did know and this was his punishment. To kill someone who he cared about. And Jimbo did care for her, big time.

Jimbo zipped up the suitcase and hurried out the door unsure of what he was going to do. In case he was being watched, Jimbo wanted to look like he’d carry it through.

He showed up at the address that was written in the note.

Karen opened the door, “How’d you find me?”

“Your husband wants me to kill you,” looking her in the eyes, and realizing he loved her.

“So, you work for Dennis,” backing up to let him in.

“I thought that was his last name?”

“It is. But he hates and won’t let anyone call him by his first name.”

Jimbo thought it was better not to ask her what it was. The way Jimbo was, he’d use it and get in trouble or shot.

Thirty minutes later Jimbo went out the front door and around back.  He dragged a garbage can to the car and pushed it onto the back seat. He climbed into the driver’s side and started the car;

“I always wanted to see the pacific northwest,” Karen leaned over and kissed him.
