Inseparable

I haven’t slept much in two weeks. There was too much of her going through my mind. I wasn’t sure how I could have had so much love for someone I barely knew.

I was at the grocery store trying to pick out a couple of cantaloupes when Mindy offered to help. I gladly accepted because I knew nothing about picking out produce.

We clicked right away and were inseparable for the next three days. I didn’t learn about her engagement until she pulled away when I tried to kiss her.

I tried to avoid her for two weeks until I caught my train to California. I was successful until she cornered me the day before I was supposed to leave. I told her how I felt, and she kissed my cheek and told me to have a good trip.

Sitting on the train staring out the window, a tap on my shoulder brought me back. I turned my head and Mindy’s blue eyes were looking back at me.

She kissed me and said, “I love you, Bill.”

“I love you too, Mindy.”

The train slowly departed.
