Dream Come True

I could barely see in front of me, but I kept going anyway. The street was pitch black, and cool with dampness. No light on the horizon. Sort of how like my life was going.

Three days ago, life was headed in the right direction. I was about to get on a plane for LA, get married and have my dream job. At the last minute she called to tell me the marriage was off. And since the job came with the marriage, I had no future.

The farther down the street I walked, the darker it seemed to get. I heard footsteps, and I quickened my pace. The footsteps were getting closer the quicker I went. I broke into a full sprint until I couldn’t run anymore.

It got quiet as I was bent over with my hands on knees, and I shut my eyes to focus on my breathing. I saw blue shoes when I opened them. I looked up to see her, and realized she was my dream come true.
