Luckiest Man

Nothing looked familiar, but strangely familiar. He stopped in front of an apartment building and tilted his head to see how tall it was. He couldn’t see the top.

“Blake,” he heard and snapped his head down to see where it came from.

The door man waving and Blake wondered who he was. How did he know Blake’s name? He didn’t remember ever seeing the door man.

“Tammy is waiting for you.”

He hasn’t seen her since high school. The breakup was hard, and he really struggled to move on.

Blake really loved her but let her go to follow her dream. He was content knowing she was happy.

Blake entered the building and instinctively pushed the up button for the elevator. The doors opened, he went in and pushed the button for the fifteenth floor. Blake did not know why.

The elevator doors opened, and he had a strong urge to knock on the door straight ahead. Blake knocked, a few seconds later the door opened.

“Did you forget you keys again?” Tammy asked, as she opened the door.

Seeing her standing there brought it all back. The wedding, the new job and the baby on the way.

Stepping inside, Blake felt like the luckiest man.
