Twenty days ago the warning was all over the news. It was coming. Nothing was going to stop it, and there wasn’t anywhere to hide. Not that he wanted to hide. All his thoughts were on her.
She promised she’d be back in three days. It’s been over two weeks. Tripp was afraid Ronni was lying hurt, somewhere. Or worse. He couldn’t let himself think about it and set off to find her.
Three days of searching, impact was in thirty hours and he had just about given up. Tripp finally spotted her, in the distance. He ran toward her, calling her name. She was struggling to walk. Tripp reached her, and bandaged her leg.
It took them just under a day to walk up the hill, overlooking the river. Tripp and Ronni stood under the cross, reciting vows to each other.
The meteor made impact as the couple was laying on the ground, holding each other.
