SPIRIT

Molly climbed from the wreckage and turned to see the damage. She was more worried about her new car her father bought her for her sixteenth birthday.

Looking at the mangled mess, Molly wondered how she survived. The jaws of life had to be brought in to get the diver of the other car out.

Molly set flowers in front of the headstone after the funeral. Carla had just graduated, Molly learned, and was accepted at South Florida University to play basketball in the fall.

Her senior year of high school Molly decided to try out for the girls basketball team, to honor Carla. Molly even wore her number, thirty-one.

As she played, Molly could feel Carla spirit, and she played like she had been playing her whole life. The season ended with the state championship, and Molly being named All-State.

Six months later Molly was playing for South Florida on a basketball scholarship.
